Introduction
A difference in electric potential at the ends of a wire provides the 'electrical pressure' needed to move charges (current).Such flow of charge (current) exists as long as the electric potential difference persists.
For example, a common car battery provides an electric potential difference of 9 V (volts).
So basically:
- The electric potential is the voltage
- The electric potential difference the voltage difference
- The units are volts.
