Circuit Exercise-5: Solution

In Brief

This page includes solutions to the set of questions related to the Circuits.
This helps learners to ensure their learning on aspects of physics in general but also circuit questions mentioned in the quiz section.

Question:

Assume that we know the resistance of a given part of a circuit and the applied voltage.
Calculate the current drawn in the circuit.
As per the figure and assuming there is an uncoated metal clamp to hold the wires in place in the battery-and-bulb circuit.
Question: Will this help to keep the bulb burning brightly?

Pick an answer:
  1. Yes
  2. No
  3. Possible
  4. The drawing is not clear enough to decide

Answer:

No. The metal clamp creates a conducting path across the battery causing it to discharge.
On the oher hand, if the clamp is needed then it is recommended to put an insulating tape between one of its jaws and the electrical connection.
