As per the figure below and identify which of the two circuits shown will cause the light bulb to light:

Answer:

The circuit in diagram A, there is no potential difference in the closed circuit.
Whereas the circuit in diagram B will allow the light bulb to light because of the existence of a closed circuit.

Hence, having the switch open or closed will not interfer since it is in parallel with another conductor.
